Island Packet 40”

One of the most ideal cruising sailboats ever built.

Welcoming our new addition to our sailing school fleet! The Island Packet 40 makes an exceptional training platform because its ultra-stable full-foil keel design and heavy displacement forgive common beginner mistakes by minimizing sudden heeling and providing a highly predictable, motion-comfort-focused ride.

Why the Island Packet Excels for Beginning Sailors

  • Forgiving Stability: The high ballast-to-displacement ratio prevents rapid tipping or sudden movements, building immediate confidence.

  • Bulletproof Construction: A solid, one-piece fiberglass hull protects against structural damage during accidental dock bumps or groundings.

  • Manageable Cutter Rig: The sail plan splits the forward sail area into smaller, easily managed roller-furling sails, making sail handling less physically demanding.

  • Excellent Tracking: Its long full keel acts like a track, allowing the boat to hold its steering straight without constant, high-stress helm corrections.

  • Ergonomic Safety: A deep, protected cockpit layout guarantees secure footing and easy access to control lines.
