Dreaming of sailing to the fabled island nations of French Polynesia but don’t have a boat and time for all the preparation to do so? Here is an incredible instructional opportunity for a select few Ocean Adventures Students and Alumni to gain your ASA Offshore Certification!
Itinerary First Season
January & February 2025 We sail Beautiful Banderas Bay Puerto Vallarta & Gold Coast of Mexico with all her beautiful Bays and Coves to prepare crew & vessel for our South Pacific Ocean Passage that is eagerly ahead.
Depart from Puerto Vallarta (PVR) on March 15th, 2025 bound for Nuku Hiva Island, Taiohae Bay Marquesas Archipelago approximately twenty-five days @ Sea sailing just over 2800 n.m. onboard our 2017 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 419 fully equipped for ocean passage making. (See Boat Link)
There are no definitive time frames while cruising under sail, as there are many factors involved including but not limited to: Weather, The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), wind & ocean conditions.

Your Captain and Co-Captain will share both their sailing knowledge and love of the ocean while everyone participates in all aspects of sailing and living aboard. (See “Our Captains” Link)
The first student opportunity will be the crossing from Puerto Vallarta Mexico to the Marquesas Islands. Approximately 2,800 NM, with average Trade Wind speeds of 18 – 24 knots.
The average boat speed is approximately 6.5 knots. Approximately 25 days at sea.
Paso Doble (Link) has two equal double Staterooms Aft Starboard and Port. These can be used by either a single sailor or a couple. The Captain & Co-Captain have their cabin forward in the bow.
Paso Doble has two private heads with showers and an additional shower outside at the stern shared by all.
The boat is equipped with Starlink and Satellite Garmin InReach for safety and communication with family and friends and updating arrival times with hotels and air travel.
